Art Experience at Heritage High School
Art is defined as something that is created with imagination, and skill, and that is beautiful or that expresses important ideas or feelings. My experience with art has always been a part of what I love to learn about. To me art means freedom. The freedom of art comes from the part that I get to explore the different kinds of ways and learn their ways of along something my own and one of a kind.
Art comes in different shapes and forms, from handmade to self organized. I love art because of the freedom. When I get to draw I get to put on paper whatever comes to mind, but organized ideas are always great. When I drew my killer whale in the Zen doodle style, took at least 3 weeks, and it was very pretty in the end. Zen doodle are the relaxing, fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. I really love doing this kind of art, and art was really interesting due to the attendance of my friends. We would talk about everything we remembered from our pasts and our experiences while doing our work. Some days when I was getting through the killer whale Zen doodle drawing the day seemed to be long and nothing would be inspirational to my mind. Sometimes when these days came I just would pick the easiest thing to do and draw it. In the end everyday work paid off in the work. A regret I have about the finished product is the blue and purple all around the whale. I wanted to use the water pastels, but learned unless you ask for the specifics on the progress, you may end up in a pit hole, not literally. The work that I put into it could have seem smooth but still triangular, unless I asked. But unless I used the specific water color pastels , I just have a blue mess. When we were in art, we learned to be responsible for our homework that was due the next week from our weekend. The drawings had to be drawn by ourselves, without anyone's help in critiquing and suggestions, just our own work. Doing our weekly drawings teaches us a habit, so when you need to get other homework done it gets harder to do the thing you have finally begun to like.
I have recently noticed that when working in pottery my creativity is semi limited due to unlearned skills. The amazing part of pottery is that when you learn that the object is 3d you can make anything work, even with the little simple skills. Examples of skills in pottery are, being able to roll coil; know about the different techniques of cementing slabs; learning how to use the spinning wheels for symmetric figures or cases; and being able to carefully put it together without breaking the pieces or add unwanted textures. The fun part of the project is when you get to try and experiment with glazes. Glazes are a chalk looking liquid that when put in a bisque kiln the chalk dried liquid becomes very similar material as glass, due to the heated chemical reaction.

I always thought I was good with photography I just never liked to write. I was never good at writing and as a freshman I didn't even know what the teachers exactly wanted from my writing. When I was in photography I didn't know how to write reviews because I wasn't educated on that as a freshman, that alone made it worse for me to get things done because there were too much to do at once. It was only after taking a language and composition class in high school that helped me get into writing more longer essays, and making them understandable. Photography shouldn't need much writing, but it's an essential to explaining to customers what they need to understand through writing. When I feel at peace my photographs turn out really interesting and professional. From freshman year i have learned a lot on the camera. I know how to use settings in the camera to my advantages, but that hadn’t happened overnight but with lots of camera holding and experimenting with it. I find that photography is just like what math used to be in fifth grade very complex and confusing, but now it’s like a light bulb was clicked and now I get it, math and photography.
